𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚

Books, literature, stories. it all sounds romantic and cozy, reading a good book on a rainy day. You want to get started on reading, but the question is how? reading sounds boring! why read when the cinema is there? why read when the theater is there to provide the storytelling, whilst giving you the sensation?

 what even is the point of reading?

well to answer that question, reading can help widen the mind and imagination, it can help you notice small details in a story, widen one's vocabulary, and improve concentration and the ability to focus.

𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙄 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜...

I started to become interested in reading in early July of 2023, the sudden interest in reading is actually because at the time I used to like a certain celebrity. A V-tuber who streams on YouTube, one of his uploads was reading a book by the famous author Oscar Wilde, thus making my first ever classic book The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝙞𝙣 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚?

There are a plethora of reasons why classics are deemed classics, and to make things easier, they can be boiled down to five (5) distinct qualities;

1. It must adress the human condition

2. It must have created profound shifts in perspective for all its readers

3. It has to have influenced many other important works

4. Generations of expert critics and readers must have regarded it highly

5. The classic is usually difficult to understand, but when understood, rewards its readers immensely.
